One of the fun storylines of LeBron James’ return to Cleveland was his reunion with some old teammates, including Mo Williams and Anderson Varejao. In James’ first stint wit Cleveland, he elevated Williams to an All-Star and carried a team Varejao to the NBA Finals.
This reunion worked out differently for Williams and Varejao. While they both ended up partcipating in the 2016 Finals, Varejao was on the opposing Golden State Warriors after being exiled at the trade deadline in order to make room for Channing Frye.
Apparently, Williams’ second stint with James was a little more dramatic than we realized as well, as he revealed today after his knee surgery.
It is unclear what Williams means exactly when he says “nobody actually gave a damn about my health but me,” but the implications are pretty clear. We don’t know how the Cavs disregarded Williams’ health, but they did one way or another,
Williams still technically has a spot on the Cavs roster, but he announced already that he will be retiring.
