Durant Speaks on Possibility of Joining Lakers in Free Agency

- in News

Kevin Durant has been relatively quiet about his free agency this summer.  With a chance at a title this year, one would think Durant would stay with OKC, but no one truly knows.  One team that has been linked to Durant has been the Los Angeles Lakers.  Stephen A. Smith reported not too long ago on the idea that if Durant did not resign with OKC, he would make Los Angeles Lakers a priority as a place for him to land.

Regardless of how senseless it may (sound), in one breath I’m hearing that if Kevin Durant doesn’t stay in Oklahoma City, L.A. is his primary objective and landing spot as opposed to South Beach or even his home of Washington, D.C.,

Lakers Nation blew up when this news was reported.  The idea of Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant seems absolutely sensual to Lakers fans, but Kevin Durant had a comment on the situation:

Kevin Durant on the Lakers rumors: “I don’t talk to Stephen A Smith at all. No one in my family, my friends do. So he’s lying.”

There you have it folks.  Durant says Stephen A. Smith is lying, but who really knows the truth.  Stephen A. Smith has predicted many free agent situations correctly, such as Dwight Howard and Lebron James.

Kevin is not the type of player that will let the media know his true intentions.  In fact, last month, Durant told Ken Berger of CBS Sports that he trusts his manager and his agent, implying that nothing will be leaked out:

“I’ve got two people that I trust with my life, my agent and my manager, who’s my best friend as well. I trust them with my life. So if you hear sources or anything, don’t believe it if it didn’t come from them. I tell them everything. We bounce ideas off each other. We collaborate on a lot of different things. They give me advice. so throughout this year, if you hear sources from anybody, it’s not true, unless you hear it from Charlie Bell, Rich Kleiman or Kevin Durant.”

Kevin Durant’s name will be mentioned all over the news and media this year as his free agency nears.  Durant is at the top of the list of free agents and it will be fun to see where the 27 year old super star lands.
