Kevin Durant Names his All-Time Starting Five

- in News

Kevin Durant is on a Nike tour to help promote his new shoes, the KD 8s. Along the way, Durant has done numerous interviews and spoke to many different media sources. Along the way, Durant was asked to name his all-time starting five. NBA Maniacs asked the question and translated it:

Finally, many of your supporters have asked us to ask you about your ideal team in NBA history.
Well, good question. I would stay with Magic Johnson as a basis for their exceptional height, vision and be a triple-double machine. As guard Kobe Bryant is a legend and five-time champion. It’s been half-life in the NBA! Michael Jordan like three. Sorry for Larry Bird , but I have to let him out for Kobe. As a power forward is difficult, between Karl Malone, Tim Duncan … I stay with Tim Duncan . For longevity, the securities and the impact it has had and still has on the court. And Shaquille O’Neal as a dominant power forward.

After building out his all-time five, the final list looks like this:

PG: Magic Johnson

SG: Kobe Bryant

SF: Michael Jordan

PF: Tim Duncan

C: Shaquille O’Neal

Many would disagree with this starting five as the greatest, especially because Lebron James is left off this list. It definitely sounds like an epic starting five, but many debates would arise from this. One would think with both Kobe and Michael on the team, how would there be enough shots to go around?

There are many questions that could be called into question about Durant’s starting five, like what time in their career is it and also are they in their prime? Its surprising that Durant did not include himself as we would assume most players would include themselves to seem confident in their ability, especially Durant.
