Yesterday, there was a report of NBA player, Matt Barnes, who went to his wife’s house when he found out that Derrick Fisher was there visiting his ex-wife, Gloria Govan. Barnes has not had a chance to speak on the situation, but from the looks of it, the dust is settling. Barnes told Ramona Shelburne about the situation:
I’m like, ‘first of all, why are you still up? It’s like 10 o’clock at night?’ So I text back, ‘I love you and I miss you, too.’ Then I FaceTimed him. I’m just like, ‘Hey, what’s up buddy?’
Now, Carter is like the rambunctious one. He’s always jumping off the walls. And when I saw his face, he was just sitting there and I knew something was wrong. I was like, ‘What’s wrong, Carter?’ and he shook his head, ‘No.’ Then he lays his head down on the couch, puts a pillow in front of his face and says, ‘Mommy’s friend Derek is here.’

Barnes was also very clear on what happened and was shocked that people could imagine such a harsh situation:
I can’t believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to Tupac to go beat somebody up. No. I live 15 minutes away and I was going over to check on my kids because they seemed uncomfortable. That was my main reason for going over there.
Fisher also had a comment when asked at New York Knicks’ training camp. He replied that private issues would remain private, keeping the media away from this debacle:
“Personal and private matters will remain private,”

Derrick fisher is also reportedly considering pressing charges, but have not filed any so far. The two were former teammates and friends, so one would think Fisher is holding back.
Barnes and Fisher were once teammates and friends, but after a messy situation with Gloria Govan, it seems the two will be going their seperate ways in terms of friendship. It will be hard to repair this bond between two class act athletes, but time can heal everything.
