Earlier this week, Ty Lawson, had a little trash talk for Curry when talking about joining the Houston Rockets. The young point-guard thought Curry was just ‘chillin’ on defense for the Western Conference Finals and the NBA Finals.
“Steph Curry needed someone to go back at him, I thought Steph was just chillin’ on defense – and then going crazy on offense. He looked like he was just putting shots up and not working so much on the defensive end. He would just come down and hit three or four 3s. He can shoot when he’s got his legs under him.”
Curry was never put against Patrick Beverly and only matched up against Kyrie Irving once during the playoffs. Many have criticized Steph, saying that he hasn’t had to guard someone who can actually score. To be fair, Curry was put up against Tony Allen who is an amzing defensive player. Curry was still able to come out winning against the Grizzlies, defeating them 4-2 in the Conference Semi-Finals.
Steph kept it cool and pretty much scoffed at Lawon’s comment. Curry’s reaction was more of a statement than the quote itself.
Curry’s first public response to Lawson’s comments was more of a reaction than a quote. After Saturday’s practice, the Warriors’ point guard initally looked down and laughed.
Finally, he offered: “It’s funny. That’s all I’ve got to say. It’s funny.”

We’ll see these offensive wizards face off when the season starts. That will truly determine the ends of this trash talking between Curry and Lawson.
