Tristan Thompson and the Cavaliers front office still remain very fair apart on signing a deal. The difference between the two sides is said to be as much $14 million. Both sides seem to be standing firm on their price and will not budge.
ESPN reported the news about the Cavaliers and Tristan Thompson fiasco:
With a week to go until the start of training camp, there remains a $14 million gap in contract talks between restricted free agent Tristan Thompson and the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources told ESPN.com.
The Cavs have held firm at an offer of five years and $80 million with Thompson looking for a max contract of $94 million over the same span, sources said. The talks have been at a virtual standstill since early July, and there isn’t much optimism on either side.

It isn’t clear which side is going to win but it is starting to seem like both sides are not going to come to an agreement. If this is the case where will Tristan land this summer? Thompson only has three other options that would offer him what he wants. The young power forward does not have much time before training camp starts, so he will have to find a deal soon or it could way heavily on team chemistry.
