Looks like SOMEONE is changing their Facebook relationship status to “It’s Complicated”.
So, everyone is pretty much aware of this age-old story by now: Best Friends Forever vow to be besties forever and ever, besties end up falling out due to one heinously dumping the other to join a super team. Okay, maybe it isn’t necessarily an “age-old” story, but it still rather amusing if you’re not either Russell Westbrook or Kevin Durant.
But, but, this surely can’t be the end of Westrant (don’t mind me while I make up words)! It can’t just be all singing diss songs in cars and smiling like one of the NBA’s strongest power-couples didn’t break up over the offseason when Durant ditched the Oklahoma City Thunder and Westbrook for the Golden State Warriors.
When signing his extension with OKC this summer, Westbrook admitted that a bond like the one he and Durant share can’t be easily broken. And finally, during a Nike event in Austin, Texas, Durant came clean about his friendship with his former OKC buddy to CBS Sports:
“We’re still cool. We’re going to compete against each other at the highest level. We’re gonna have fun against each other. We’re still cool. There’s no hate toward Russell from me.”

While Durant is dead set on convincing the media that there is no turbulence in the once seemingly impenetrable friendship as of right now, it will be interesting to see that “coolness” play out on the court when the two meet again during the regular season.
